Sometimes bands can have a huge influence on music as a whole without ever even putting out a record. Detroit's Destroy All Monsters, a self-described anti-rock band active from 1973 to 1985, was one such band. Listening to their brass-studded psych-punk, you can hear how the likes of their experimental jams eventually led to the No Wave and noise rock movements. Bands like Sonic Youth took plenty from Destroy All Monsters; Thurston Moore even made their demos available to the public on a three-disc CD compilation in 1994. Listen to "You're Gonna Die" below to see what I mean.
